Job summary

UCI Health in Irvine, CA, seeks a Surgical Tech to assist with direct patient care in the Operating Room, prepare and stock the OR, and maintain aseptic technique. The role may involve floating to all UCI Health locations as needed.

Applicants with less than two years of experience may be considered as Surgical Tech (8931) with a pay range of $33.95-$42.19 per hour; those with two or more years may be considered as Sr. Surgical Tech (8930) with a pay range of $36.73-$45.67 per hour.

Qualifications

• Two years of demonstrated surgical technologist experience in multiple specialties in an acute care facility.
• Completion of an accredited course in surgical technology.
• Required to float to all locations of UCI Health as needed.
• Clinical training in an acute care perioperative setting, preferably in an academic medical center.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, and understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care activities in the Operating Room.
• Prepare and stock the OR before and after surgery; gather clean and sterile supplies.
• Set sterile instrument fields and maintain aseptic technique.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and participate on departmental committees.
