Job summary

Serco Inc. in Newport, RI seeks experienced Software Engineers to design, develop, and test advanced unmanned underwater vehicle systems for critical military programs. You will contribute to software sustainment, system integration, and DevOps within a controlled environment.

You will work with PCX, MOAA, and DSIM alongside NVIDIA? (context) to support mission-critical capabilities and engage with external stakeholders as part of a tight-knit team. A DoD secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• DoD Secret Security Clearance (ability to maintain/transfer required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong programming in C++, Python.
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix-based OS.
• Experience with distributed systems (DDS or similar middleware).
• Version control (Git) and collaborative workflows.
• CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (GitLab).
• Automated testing frameworks (Google Test).
• Containerization (Docker).
• Troubleshooting complex, integrated systems across software and infra layers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to government and external user communities, including troubleshooting and user engagement.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance core simulation software (PCX) with bug fixes and new capabilities.
• Conduct code audits and enforce software quality standards during integration with R&D teams.
• Prepare, validate, and release software builds for external distribution per CM and security requirements.
• Perform lifecycle maintenance: OS updates, compiler/library updates, DDS middleware configuration.
• Design and maintain automated simulation and test pipelines with nightly regression runs.
• Support simulation environments across diverse mission scenarios and vehicle configurations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines in secure environments.
