Job summary

Serco Inc. in Newport, RI, seeks experienced Mechanical Engineers to design, develop, and test unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) systems for critical military programs, supporting internal R&D and external stakeholders.

You will work on system integration, product documentation, and troubleshooting pre- and post-test sea testing, in a controlled compliance-driven environment to support mission-critical capabilities.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret Security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
• 2 years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks and/or Siemens NX).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• The ability to travel up to 10% (CONUS).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to government and external user communities, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and user engagement
• Lead mechanical design efforts using SolidWorks and/or Siemens NX.
• Perform finite element analysis (FEA), simulations, and generate detailed 2D drawings.
• Apply ASME drafting standards and conduct statistical tolerance analyses.
• Develop high-quality technical documentation including specifications, test plans, reports, and white papers.
• Support UUV sea testing with up to 10% travel (domestic and international).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex engineering challenges.
