Job summary

Serco Inc. in Newport, RI is seeking Software Engineers to design, develop, and test advanced unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) systems for critical military programs.

You will contribute to software sustainment, system integration, and DevOps pipelines in a controlled, compliant environment. Ideal candidates have a BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering, at least 2 years of experience, and strong C++/Python skills on Linux.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 2 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong programming in C++ and Python.
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix-based OS.
• Experience with distributed systems and middleware (DDS or similar).
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test advanced software for unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) systems.
• Maintain and enhance core software (PCX) and bug fixes.
• Lead code audits and ensure software quality during integration with R&D teams.
• Prepare, validate, and release software builds for external distribution with CM and security controls.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines in secure environments and support nightly regression runs.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to ensure performance and reliability.
