Job summary

Serco is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers for the Autonomous Maritime Systems Test Center in Newport, RI. You will contribute to design, development, and testing of unmanned underwater vehicle systems for military programs, focusing on integration, documentation, and troubleshooting during sea testing.

Requirements include a DoD Secret clearance, a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, and 2 years of design experience using SolidWorks or Siemens NX.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret Security clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2 years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks and/or Siemens NX).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to government and external user communities.
• Lead mechanical design efforts using SolidWorks and/or Siemens NX.
• Perform FEA, simulations, and generate detailed 2D drawings.
• Apply ASME drafting standards and conduct statistical tolerance analyses.
• Develop high-quality technical documentation including specifications, test plans, reports.
• Support UUV sea testing with travel up to 10% (domestic and international).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve engineering challenges.
