Job summary

XKIG is seeking a Tree Climber to perform pruning, removal, and storm-related work under the Foreperson’s guidance. You’ll climb with ropes, operate chainsaws, and ensure all equipment is maintained in safe working order.

This full‑time, on‑site role emphasizes safety, storm readiness, and teamwork. The job description notes strict safety standards, background checks, and the potential for out‑of‑town travel for storm restoration work.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming/removal.
• Must climb/descend trees using rope and safety saddle.
• Must be able to administer emergency rescue techniques and first aid.
• Must be aware of electrical hazards near conductors and aerial rescue in emergencies aloft.
• Must be able to work at heights under varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson’s directives.
• Load/unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into chipper.
• Work from the ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws.
• Inspect and ensure proper working condition of tools and equipment.
• Enforce safe practices and keep work area clean; communicate with co-workers.
