Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts and Kendall Vegetation Services is seeking a Climber to perform high-risk pruning and removal of trees. You will climb using ropes, prune, and remove trees under the Foreperson’s direction, loading gear and ensuring safety for yourself and crew in demanding environments.

Responsibilities include tool inspection, ground work, and assisting with storm restoration. Candidates should have strong climbing skills, first aid, CPR certification, and a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate working knowledge of knots, ropes and rigging devices
• Must climb/descend trees using rope and safety saddle
• Must administer emergency rescue techniques including tree rescue and first aid
• Must be familiar with electrical hazards and operating procedures near conductors
• Able to work at heights in varying weather
• Must have good balance, depth perception and hearing instructions
• Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR
• Must wear PPE and travel for storm restoration as needed

Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, and remove trees as directed by Foreperson
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush and debris; feed brush into chipper
• Work from ground with hand saws, pole saws and pruners
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation
• Maintain safe work area and communicate with crew
• Perform duties for storm restoration as needed
