Job summary

City of Richmond is seeking a reliable Customer Service Specialist to help residents and commercial customers with utility accounts, billing inquiries, and payments. You will work under the Customer Service Manager to ensure accurate billing and meter reading, collaborating with admin and field staff to support city services.

Qualification requirements include a high school diploma, cash handling, 35 wpm typing, and a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Proven cash handling experience and accurate typing (35 wpm).
• At least 1 year in a customer service role handling customer services and/or information.
• Effective Spanish communication skills are a plus.
• Class "C" Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Oversee utility billing and meter reading functions and act as a primary customer service contact.
• Assist residents and commercial customers with inquiries and payments in a professional manner.
• Coordinate with administration and field staff to execute duties and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate billing, payment, and customer accounting records.
• Identify and troubleshoot problematic meters and provide analyses and reporting.
