Job summary

The City of Fairburn seeks a dedicated Utility Billing Clerk to support billing for electric, water, sewer and sanitation utilities. You will provide customer service in person, over the phone, and in writing, and maintain account databases with accuracy.

Responsibilities include processing bills to Datamatx, programming meter readers, handling new service and disconnections, and producing routine reports for the Utility Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years of related experience; or equivalent combination.
• Experience with Harris NorthStar utility billing system preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze and adjust utility accounts with proper authorization.
• Maintain utility account database, including data entry and updating changes to accounts.
• Prepare and process all utility bills for transfer to Datamatx for mailing.
• Program electronic meter readers and update routes.
• Process new service and disconnect requests timely.
• Audit utility billings for accuracy.
• Respond to customer inquiries in person, by phone, and in writing.
• Provide monthly/quarterly reports and maintain records of adjustments.
