Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to support urgent care clinics with triage, blood draws, vitals, and front-desk duties, including insurance verification and eligibility checks.

You will work in a fast-paced clinical setting, ensuring accurate documentation in the EMR and adherence to HIPAA and infection-control standards while delivering compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• Urgent care or emergency room experience valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, venipuncture, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, and maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions.
• Participate in daily huddles and maintain compliance logs; support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
