Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to greet and triage patients, perform venipuncture, and support front-desk duties including eligibility verification. You will work in a fast-paced urgent care setting with emphasis on accurate documentation and compassionate patient care.

You should have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program and hold an active MA certification, plus EMR experience (Experity preferred) and familiarity with payer portals.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within onboarding period.
• Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (e.g., Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients; collect vitals and histories.
• Perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing.
• Register patients; verify insurance eligibility; collect co-pays.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions.
