Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to greet and triage patients, collect vitals, draw blood, and assist with procedures in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

The role requires active MA certification, 1+ year experience in insurance verification and patient registration, and BLS. EMR proficiency (Experity preferred) and payer portal familiarity are important. Evening/weekend availability may be required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• Minimum 1 year experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain before starting.
• Urgent care or ER experience valued.
• Experience with EMR systems, preferably Experity; familiar with payer portals.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals, perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived tests.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility and determine financial responsibility.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions.
• Maintain compliance logs, support HIPAA standards and infection control.
