Job summary

American Family Care seeks a skilled Medical Assistant to greet and triage patients, collect vitals, perform venipuncture, and assist with minor procedures in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Ideal candidates have an accredited MA program completion, active national MA certification at hire, and at least 1 year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration. BLS is required; Urgent care ER experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals, perform venipuncture, and assist with minor procedures.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, and collect co-pays.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations, provide clear discharge instructions.
• Support infection control and HIPAA standards; participate in daily huddles.

Education

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
