Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a Medical Assistant to blend clinical care with front-desk duties and insurance verification. You will greet patients, collect vitals, perform venipuncture, and support EMR accuracy in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

Ideal candidates have an accredited MA program, active national MA certification, and at least 1 year of experience in insurance verification and patient registration. BLS certification is required or obtainable before start.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain before starting.
• Urgent care or ER experience is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing, assist with minor procedures.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payment logs, maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on clinical procedures and financial expectations; provide clear discharge instructions and empathetic communication.
• Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs, support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
