Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a dedicated Medical Receptionist to be the friendly face of our clinics, handling insurance verification, financial counseling, and billing support. You will ensure accurate coverage before visits, explain costs to patients, and help minimize denials while maintaining high patient satisfaction.

As part of the front-desk team, you’ll schedule appointments, process payments, and safeguard patient information under HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; X-Ray Tech, Medical Assistant or related certification is a plus
• Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within defined onboarding period
• Experience with insurance verification and medical billing is required; non-negotiable

Responsibilities

• Master Insurance Verification: verify coverage BEFORE services to prevent denials and maximize revenue
• Excel at Financial Counseling: explain costs and billing processes to patients clearly
• Solve Billing Problems: identify and resolve insurance discrepancies before they impact revenue
• Drive Patient Satisfaction: deliver exceptional service during financial conversations and help patients
• Be the Face of AFC: greet patients with warmth and professionalism
• Own the Front Desk Flow: process payments, schedule appointments, and check-in patients efficiently
• Protect Patient Information: maintain records compliant with HIPAA
