Encompass Health Corporation is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit and coordinate clerical tasks that enable safe, high-quality patient care. This position emphasizes medical records, orders transcription, and serving as a resource for patients, families, and staff.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a compassionate approach in a community-focused hospital setting.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program with familiarity with medical terminology and reading/transcribing medical orders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Transcribe medical orders accurately and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize safe patient care delivery.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries and direct them to the appropriate person for resolution.
