Encompass Health Corporation is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit with vital clerical tasks and patient care coordination. You will help maintain medical records, transcribe orders, and assist patients, families, and visitors at the nursing station.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program and familiarity with medical terminology are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using an appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
