Encompass Health is seeking a Unit Secretary to support a nursing unit, ensuring accurate patient records, efficient transcription of orders, and smooth coordination of tests and transportation. This frontline role emphasizes patient care and teamwork within a community-focused hospital environment.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program (such as nursing) and familiarity with medical terminology are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
