Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to support patient care units. The role requires coordinating reception, clerical tasks, medical records, and patient registration while maintaining calm handling of emergencies.

The HUC will liaise between patient care units and other departments, supporting the charge RN and unit leadership. The position emphasizes efficient workflow, accurate records, and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer knowledge and proficient typing expected.
• Excellent customer service skills and clear communication required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse staff, patients and families.

Responsabilités

• Greet patients and visitors with a friendly, professional demeanor.
• Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers.
• Direct questions to appropriate staff and resources as needed.
• Assist patients in navigation and wayfinding throughout the unit.
• Communicate with team to resolve issues and maintain smooth workflow.
• Coordinate with Manager and Charge Nurse to align on priorities.
• Enter and verify orders; ensure timely and accurate delivery of medications and supplies.
• Maintain unit records and patient census with accuracy.
