Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth is seeking a part-time Unit Coordinator to support the Nursing Unit with clerical duties, medical records, and patient flow. Shifts are 16 hours per week (7:00 am to 3:30 pm) with rotating weekends and holidays.

The role requires Medical Terminology knowledge, completion of a medical terminology course within the past 2 years or the ability to pass a competency. EPIC experience is preferred; prior Unit Coordinator or medical assistant/secretary training

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Medical Terminology (course completed within past 2 years or pass competency)
• Ability to perform variety of clerical duties on Nursing Unit
• Accurate transcription into electronic medical system (EPIC preferred)
• Excellent organizational skills for high-stress environments
• Graduate of medical assistant/secretary program (6–12 months experience preferred)
• Notary current or obtained within 30 days

Responsibilities

• Unit Receptionist duties: telephone, visitor assistance, specimen delivery, mail distribution
• Maintenance of nursing unit medical records
• Clerical duties on the Nursing Unit
• Follow hospital policies and ensure workflow efficiency
