Job summary

Hensel Phelps is hiring Laborers to support concrete, form carpenters, ironwork, masons, and general site operations on Southern California projects. This safety-sensitive role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks on a construction site.

Union benefits are provided; the job includes lifting, carrying materials, and assisting with formwork and concrete placement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Follow safe work practices per safety program.
• Must take initiative and ask questions.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Workers must provide their own safety footwear.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and stakeholders.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
• Reliable and punctual; ensure consistent attendance.
• Preferred: experience in layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading; OSHA 10, CPR & First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare areas for concrete placement and finish areas for slabs.
• Shovel for extended periods and assist with forming and placement of concrete.
• Move and position form panels and support equipment.
• Handle concrete buckets from cranes and distribute concrete.
• Finish concrete surfaces with power trowels and screeds.
• Assist masons with masonry work and move bags of cement, lime, sand, and grout.
• Transport door frames and install in designated areas.
• Load, unload, and distribute materials, tools, and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized site; enforce hazards communication.
• Contribute to site safety and secure site materials at day end.
