Job summary

AXA XL is seeking an Underwriting Assistant in Chicago to support the underwriting team through the lifecycle of renewal and prospect accounts. You will handle pre-underwrites, gather information, and coordinate with Brokers, underwriters, and reinsurers across multiple lines including Middle Market - Excess Casualty, Package, and Inland Marine.

You’ll participate in pricing, basic coverage structuring, and ensure timely data input in Salesforce to drive efficient work tracking and service

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication with Brokers and Underwriters to collect information for risk analysis.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and PDF tools for underwriting support.

Responsibilities

• Pre-underwrites, evaluates risk, and gathers complete underwriting information from Brokers.
• Apply line-of-business rules for pre-analysis support ahead of quoting.
• Collaborate with Underwriters, Brokers, Reinsurers, and AXA XL units to manage tasks and accounts.
• Communicate account status to ensure completion of subjectivities for policy issuance.
• Develop initial pricing and basic coverage structuring for the risk for underwriter review.
• Manage workflow and track status across stakeholders worldwide.
• Use Salesforce for accurate data input for underwriting processes.
