Job summary

AXA XL in Exton, PA, is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the underwriting team through the renewal and prospect lifecycle, from submission to expiration, with underwriting oversight.

The role spans Environmental and Construction lines, handling pre-underwrites, risk assessment, data collection from brokers, and collaboration with underwriters, reinsurers, and internal units. Proficiency with Salesforce is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related insurance experience or training.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and communicate clearly.
• Strong prioritization and time management with accurate results.
• Organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to use PDFs and browsers.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-underwrites, evaluates risk and assesses completeness of the package.
• Communicate with Brokers to collect account and insured information.
• Apply line-of-business underwriting rules for pre-analysis of submissions.
• Collaborate with Underwriters, Brokers, Reinsurers and AXA XL units to manage tasks.
• Update account status to ensure completion of subjectivities for issuance and pricing.
• Develop initial pricing, basic coverage structuring, and binder packages.
• Calculate base rating and apply experience modifications for the underwriting pack.
• Manage workflow and track status across internal partners worldwide.
• Communicate with internal and external contacts across time zones.
• Utilize SalesForce for input of information needed by underwriting team.
• Possibly participate in projects as Subject Matter Experts in Underwriting Support.
• Perform quality control of coding and issuance output for accuracy.
