Job summary

AXA XL in Chicago, IL is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the underwriting team and own the assigned accounts from submission to policy issuance. You will coordinate with brokers and internal units to ensure complete submissions and accurate underwriting records.

The role involves pre-underwriting activities, basic pricing, and workflow management across multiple lines, including Middle Market risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or related insurance experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven prioritization and time management skills.
• Organizational, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel), Internet Explorer and Adobe Acrobat.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-underwrites, evaluates risk, and prepares submissions.
• Collaborate with Underwriters, Brokers, Reinsurers, and internal units for risk analysis.
• Communicate account status to drive timely issuance and premium collection.
• Develop initial pricing, basic coverage structuring, quotation and binder packages.
• Manage the workflow of tasks and monitor status across accounts.
• Collaborate with Underwriters, Product Management, Legal and Regulatory as necessary to perform pre-bind activities.
