Job summary

AXA XL in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the underwriting team through the full renewal and prospect account life cycle, from submission to expiration, with underwriting oversight. This on-site role involves front-to-end tasks across assigned accounts and collaboration with brokers, reinsurers, and internal partners.

Anticipated start date is 10/26 and there are multiple openings in Middle Market - Excess Casualty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or some related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Robust interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups.
• Proven prioritization and time management skills with accurate results.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and general software tools.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-underwrites, evaluates risk, and assesses completeness of the underwriting package before underwriter review; communicate with brokers to collect information.
• Apply line-of-business specific underwriting rules for pre-analysis in preparation for quoting.
• Collaborate with Underwriters, Brokers, Reinsurers, and internal units to manage tasks and accounts.
• Communicate account status to ensure completion of subjectivities for policy issuance and premium collection.
• Develop initial pricing, basic coverage structuring, quotations, and binder packages for underwriter review.
• Manage workflow and track status across multiple tasks and teams globally.
• Coordinate with internal and external contacts across time zones to maintain service levels.
• Utilize Salesforce for input of critical underwriting data for tracking and delivery.
