Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. in the United States invites applications for an Underground Field Service Technician to maintain and optimize underground mining equipment.

You will diagnose, repair, and service complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in demanding underground environments. You will travel to sites on-site, perform on-location repairs, and follow safety protocols while contributing to continuous production and equipment reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years' practical experience in underground or heavy equipment service roles.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or one year of post-secondary technical education in a related field.
• Preference for underground mining experience.
• Strong troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance skills for complex machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and safety documents; communicate with the team.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive maintenance, inspection, and repair of underground mining machinery to minimize downtime.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Travel to underground sites to perform on-site repairs and component replacements.
• Conduct post-repair testing to ensure safety and performance standards are met.
• Interpret schematics and manuals for low voltage control systems during repair work.
• Align and calibrate motor couplings, transfer cases, gearboxes to manufacturer specs.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements in underground environments.
• Collaborate with supervisors and engineers to report findings and drive improvements.
