Job summary

Mayo Clinic seeks a Sonographer to independently perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound imaging in outpatient and inpatient settings. The role includes assisting in complex procedures, interpreting images with clinical context, and communicating preliminary findings to physicians.

The candidate will identify imaging orders, tailor exams to patient history, and maintain sterile technique while supporting QA and equipment maintenance. BLS is required within 90 days of start date.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Sonography Program and ARDMS registered or registry eligible.
• One year of experience as a Sonographer preferred.
• Associate degree or above preferred.
• ARDMS registered or registry eligible in abdomen, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) and vascular technology (RVT).
• ARDMS registered in Abdomen, Obgyn, and RVT within 18 months of Mayo employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously performs high quality, advanced diagnostic ultrasound imaging for outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Assists in complex invasive procedures and intraoperative cases with a team approach.
• Interpretation support: obtain images, measurements, and communicate preliminary clinical findings to physicians.
• Identify imaging orders for accuracy and tailor exams to patient needs.
• Maintain sterile technique, prepare setups, handle specimens, monitor patients, and document procedures.
• Participates in QA, equipment maintenance, and department accreditation.
