Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida seeks an experienced Sonographer to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging for tertiary care in outpatient and inpatient settings, including abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN, and small parts exams. The role requires independent judgment, accurate measurements, and collaboration with physicians.

Responsibilities include assisting in complex procedures, ensuring sterile technique, participating in QA and department accreditation, and mentoring students

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Sonography Program and/or ARDMS registered or registry eligible.
• One year of experience as a Sonographer preferred.
• ARDMS registered or registry eligible in abdomen, OB/GYN and RVT.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously performs high quality, advanced diagnostic ultrasound imaging for outpatient and inpatient care, including abdominal, vascular, OB/GYN and small parts exams.
• Assists in complex invasive procedures and intraoperative cases with a team approach.
• Requires high level analytical ability to obtain appropriate images and communicate a preliminary clinical diagnosis to the physician.
• Identifies imaging orders for accuracy and tailors exams to patient history and symptoms.
• Requires knowledge and adherence to sterile technique, procedural setup, specimen collection and handling, patient monitoring, and documentation.
• Participates in research and QA activities and supports department accreditation.
• Mentors and teaches students and new staff, and serves as a resource for residents and physicians.
• Participates in teams, projects, education, process improvements, and/ or research efforts.
