Job summary

Maryland Department of Labor in Cumberland, MD is seeking an UI Professional V-Supervisor (Internal Only) to oversee claims processing, interviews, and determinations in support of unemployment benefits and program integrity.

The role requires strong supervisory skills, knowledge of Beacon and MD Unemployment Insurance processes, and a commitment to customer service. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position serving the Division of Unemployment Insurance.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience in a public or private agency rendering and/or determining eligibility for a Human Service Program, or four years in admin/professional staff plus four years in such eligibility work.
• Bachelor's degree substitution with four years of experience in relevant work for required experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead a unit of UI Professionals/Associates handling claims, questions, fact-finding and non-monetary determinations.
• Provide training and guidance on policies and procedures to meet internal and external goals.
• Review unemployment insurance claims and non-monetary determinations for accuracy and prevent improper payments/fraud.
• Supervise in-person and call center activities; monitor backlog and ensure timely payments.
• Develop metrics and report to leadership; arrange staff schedules based on workload and conditions.
• Train new staff on Beacon processes and conduct evaluations using PEP.
