Job summary

The Maryland Department of Labor seeks a Unemployment Insurance Professional I to investigate and prevent UI fraud through detection, investigation, and recovery of overpayments. Based in Baltimore City, the role involves evaluating claims for fraud indicators, interpreting UI laws to claimants and employers, and ensuring accurate benefit payments.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in a public or private agency determining eligibility for human service programs, or a Bachelor's degree.
• One year or more of experience applying federal and/or state unemployment insurance laws, regulations, and policies.
• Experience using standard office equipment and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Experience verifying identification documents.
• Experience learning and applying new computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Investigate UI fraud indicators and contribute to prevention, investigation, and recovery of overpayments.
• Explain UI laws and processes to claimants and employers, ensuring accurate benefit payments.
