Job summary

XKIG is seeking a skilled Tree Climber to join our field team in North Carolina. You will climb, prune, and remove trees following Foreperson directives and work from the ground with hand and gas-powered tools.

This role requires strict adherence to safety practices and the ability to support storm restoration when needed. You will load and unload timber, inspect equipment, and ensure a safe work zone for co-workers and the public.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices.
• Able to climb/descend trees with rope and safety saddle.
• Administer emergency rescue techniques and first aid.
• Familiar with electrical hazards near conductors during rescue aloft.
• Able to work at considerable heights in varying weather.
• Must have physical strength, balance, depth perception, and hearing.
• Able to obtain/maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Able to wear PPE.
• Willingness to travel for storm restoration work.
• Pass background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, and remove trees per Foreperson’s directives.
• Load/unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into brush chipper.
• Work from ground with hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws.
• Inspect and ensure proper functioning of tools and equipment.
• Enforce safe practices and protect coworkers/public from hazards.
• Perform duties for storm work as needed.
