Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is seeking a full-time Climber to join our vegetation management team in North Carolina. The role requires proven climbing experience, knot and rigging knowledge, and the ability to work safely at height while handling pruning and removal tasks.

Responsibilities include loading materials, operating hand and gas-powered tools, and maintaining equipment. A strong emphasis on safety, readiness for storm work, and willingness to travel for deployments are essential.

Qualifications

Must demonstrate working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations.
Must be able to climb/descend trees using rope and safety saddle.
Must be able to administer emergency rescue techniques including tree rescue and first aid.
Familiar with electrical hazards and procedures when near conductors and during aerial rescue.
Able to work at considerable heights in varying weather, with good balance and depth perception.
Must have physical strength, agility, and ability to hear instructions.
Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
Must wear required PPE.
Must travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.

Responsibilities

Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson’s directives.
Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into brush chipper.
Work from ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws.
Inspect and ensure proper working condition of all tools and equipment.
Safeguard employees and the public by enforcing safe practices and maintaining a clean work area.
Perform duties for storm work as needed.
