Job summary

Layton Construction seeks an experienced Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, including scheduling, production, and procurement for ground‑up commercial projects. This role requires frequent travel to project locations nationwide, with the Indianapolis area as a potential base.

You will supervise direct labor and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely completion. You will partner with Project Managers to develop schedules, manage resources, monitor costs, and enforce

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ground‑up commercial projects, especially light industrial/cold storage.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Ability to read blueprints and apply building codes correctly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications to plan procedures for construction and staffing per phase.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to determine project schedule and look-ahead plans.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Inform all stakeholders of construction issues and progress; hold regular meetings with crews and subcontractors.
• Move personnel between projects to manage labor costs and staffing; support Project Management Plan preparation.
• Ensure safety policies and quality standards are implemented and maintained.
