Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to manage daily operations on the job site, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. The role requires travel to project locations nationwide.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, strong knowledge of construction processes, and the ability to read blueprints and apply codes. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Understands and reads blueprints; applies building codes correctly.
• Strong written and verbal communication; basic Spanish preferred.
• Knowledge of CMiC software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction based on timelines and staffing.
• Interacts with the Project Manager to determine project schedule and look-ahead plans.
• Coordinates pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager before mobilization.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Ensures all parties are informed of construction issues and progress; coordinates with subs, clients, and crews.
• Prepares the Project Management Plan in collaboration with the Project Manager.
