Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers in delivering work that aligns with plans and specifications. You will review shop drawings, analyze constructability, and communicate with architects on material decisions.

You will attend meetings, prepare status reports, and keep the project schedule current while assisting with bidding and scope for trades. A strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor, or comparable internship experience, preferred.
• Good written and oral communication skills. Expresses ideas clearly in writing and speaking.
• Able to read and understand blueprints.
• Knowledge of OSHA and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers to ensure work meets plans and specifications.
• Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance and adequacy.
• Analyze plans for value, constructability, and material selection.
• Attend meetings and distribute minutes to team members.
• Publish weekly progress reports and update project schedules.
• Assist in bidding and scope development for trade contractors.
• Coordinate concrete pours and inspect reinforcing as required.
• Ensure safety policies are followed on site.
