Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring installed work meets plans and specs. You will review shop drawings, analyze project plans for value and constructability, and communicate improvements to the architect.

You will help prepare schedules, participate in meetings, publish weekly progress reports, and support bidding and scope development for trade contractors, while upholding safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor or internship.
• Strong written and verbal communication; clear, organized expression.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Willingness to adjust plans to meet goals.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements.
• Demonstrates integrity and ethical conduct.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Willingness to learn new job-related information.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans and shop drawings for compliance.
• Coordinate with architects, suppliers, and team members.
• Produce weekly progress reports and meeting minutes.
• Assist in bidding and scope development for trades.
• Support project scheduling and milestone tracking.
• Ensure safety policies are followed on site.
