Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with CST or TS-C certification and 3+ years of acute OR experience for an operating room position with heavy ortho and CVOR case coverage.

Responsibilities include working in a Level 3 trauma hospital OR with 7 rooms and a busy case load, using EPIC EMR, and managing CST/CVOR call requirements. Housing and travel reimbursements provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in an acute care OR setting required.
• BLS certification required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or TS-C via NCCT required.
• License required if applicable.
• Must be able to perform C-sections.
• High preference for first scrub ortho total joint experience (not required for CVOR).
• Previous travel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acute care OR with 7 operating rooms, 1 cysto, 2 c-section rooms.
• Average of 15–24 cases per day.
• Case mix includes heavy ortho total joints, GYN C-sections, urology, spine, ENT, GI, and general surgery, with no robotics.
• CVOR cases include vascular fem pops, cut downs, cath lab, stents, fistulas, CABG.
• Pediatric cases limited to tubes and tonsils.
• Day shifts 0630–1500 or 0900–1730, Mon–Fri.
• EPIC EMR used; CST call 6–7 shifts/mo, CVOR call 15–16 shifts/mo.
• Weekend call Friday 3pm through Sunday end of day.
• Call response time 20 min CST, 30 min CVOR.
• No floating; preceptor-led orientation; scrubs provided.

• Common cases include heavy ortho total joints, GYN C-sections, urology, spine, ENT, GI, and general surgery, with no robotics
• CVOR cases include vascular fem pops, cut downs, hybrid cases with cath lab, stents, fistulas, and CABG
• Pediatric cases limited to tubes and tonsils, with rare appendectomies
• Day shift scheduling, either 0630-1500 or 0900-1730, Monday through Friday
• EPIC EMR used
• CST call required 6-7 shifts per month including one weekend; CVOR call required 15-16 shifts per month including every other weekend
• Weekend call runs Friday 3pm through end of day Sunday
• Call response time is 20 minutes for CST and 30 minutes for CVOR
• No floating required
• Charge nurse present during day shifts with on-call house supervisors covering all shifts who call in the call team as needed
• Facility provides scrubs
• Orientation includes a half day with HR followed by 3-4 days on the unit with a preceptor
• Candidates must live within 45 miles of the facility
• Cancellation policy allows up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Holiday call may be required and will be specified at the time of contract
