Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Tech for a CVOR role in a Level 3 trauma center near Norfolk, NE. Requires a minimum of 3 years of acute OR experience and CST certification. EPIC EMR experience is used; duties include scrub duties across CVOR and general OR cases, with call requirements.

You will work day shifts, Monday–Friday, with CST calls and weekend coverage; travel experience is preferred and a housing/licensure package is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of acute care OR experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential via NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Certified ECG Technician (NCET) via NCCT.
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) via NBSTSA.
• License required if applicable.
• Must scrub c-section cases.
• Previous travel experience preferred.
• Ortho total joint first scrub experience highly preferred (not required for CVOR).

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital setting, Level 3 trauma center.
• CVOR with occasional general OR coverage when vascular or open heart cases are not scheduled.
• Approximately 1 open heart case per month, with vascular cases performed weekly by a consistent surgeon.
• CVOR case types include vascular fem-pop, cut downs, hybrid cases with cath lab, stents, fistulas, and CABG.
• General OR consists of 7 suites, including 1 cysto room and 2 c-section rooms, averaging 15-24 cases per day.
• Common general OR case types include heavy ortho total joints, GYN C-sections, urology, spine, ENT, GI, and general surgery.
• Pediatric cases limited to tubes, tonsils, and rare appendectomies.
• EPIC EMR used.
• Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, either 0630-1500 or 0900-1730.
• CST call requirement of 6-7 shifts per month including one weekend.
• CVOR CST call requirement of 15-16 shifts per month including every other weekend.
• On-call weekend coverage from Friday 3pm through end of day Sunday.
• Call response time of 20 minutes for general CST and 30 minutes for CVOR CST.
• Charge nurse present during day shifts with on-call house supervisors for all shifts.
• Scrub general OR cases when not assigned to vascular or open heart procedures.
• Facility provides scrubs.
• No floating requirements.
• Orientation includes one half-day with HR followed by 3-4 days on the unit with a preceptor.
• Holiday on-call coverage may be required depending on contract terms.
• CVOR CST positions currently have no RTO availability during the assignment.
• Must reside within 45 miles of the facility.
