Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience required.
• CVOR experience including major CV procedures.
• NBSTSA certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• WV or Compact OR Tech license to start; pending license considered.
• Cerner charting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Level IV Trauma Center with 14 ORs and ~25 daily census.
• 3x12 day shift 6:45 AM-7:15 PM, weekdays.
• Occasional weeknight on-call and ~1 weekend per month.
• No floating required.

• Residence >100 miles from facility; case-by-case 75-99 miles.
• Orientation every other Monday.

Job description

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Tech/OR Tech with CVOR experience for a day-shift position at a Level IV Trauma Center teaching hospital.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• CVOR experience required including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Mitral Valve Replacement, and Pericardial Window
• General surgery experience required including General, Endo/Laparoscopic, and Thoracic cases
• Preferred CVOR experience in Atherectomy, Atrial Septal Defect Repair, Cardiomyoplasty, Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft, Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery, TAVR, and VAD
• Preferred surgery experience in Vascular, Urology, and Ortho/Total Joints
• NBSTSA certification required
• BLS certification required
• WV or Compact OR Tech license required to start; pending license accepted for consideration
• License required if applicable
• Cerner charting experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital setting with 14 operating rooms and an average daily census of 25
• 3x12 day shift schedule, 6:45 AM-7:15 PM, weekdays
• On-call requirements include occasional weeknight call (7p-7a) and approximately one weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday until 11pm, call only)
• No floating required
• Responsibilities include scrubbing, circulating, and equipment documentation
• Uses OR tables, yellow fin stirrups, battery operated equipment, and positioning aids
• Charting via Cerner and Accudose
• First-time travelers accepted if they have required CVOR and general surgery scrubbing experience
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-99 miles may be considered case-by-case
• Orientation held every other Monday
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (October 1-March 31) unless medical exemption is documented
• COVID vaccine not required
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last permanent work date before returning as a traveler
• Current Vandalia Health System employees are not eligible for travel contracts within the health system
• Free parking for travelers
• No RTO restrictions
