Job summary

Newsandtribune seeks a Certified Surgical Tech for a CVOR position with 2 years CVOR experience and Level 1/2 trauma exposure. BLS, accredited surgical technology program, and associate degree are required; CST preferred. Circulating role only, no scrub duties.

On-call shifts include 7p–7a and every third weekend; travel and housing considerations apply. Or 1:1 patient care in OR, with potential to float to Main OR.

Qualifications

• 2 years CVOR experience required
• Level 1 or 2 trauma experience required
• BLS certification required
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program required
• CST certification preferred
• License required if applicable
• Associate Degree in a healthcare-related field or CST certification required
• Strong CVOR skills across CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, cardiac organ procurement, fem-pop bypass
• Circulating role only, no scrub duties required

Responsibilities

• Hospital Surgical Services department with 2 dedicated OR suites, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU bays
• Cardiovascular and thoracic surgery caseload including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, thoracic cases (lobectomy, hernia repair), generator exchanges, lead extractions, cardiac organ procurement, fem-pop bypass, and open vascular cases (AAA, carotids, conversions)
• 1:1 patient ratio in the OR
• May float to Main OR as needed
• Uses a 2-tech model with both techs scrubbed in, sharing setup, draping, and support duties
• 8 or 10 hour shifts with on-call requirements including one overnight per week and every third weekend
• On-call response time is 15 minutes with sleep accommodations provided in Pre-Op/PACU area
• EPIC EMR required, along with Omnicell and Alaris equipment
• Work alongside RNs, First Assists, Surgical Techs, Nurse Clinicians, CRNs, Service Line Leads, HUC, Scheduler, Preference Card Analyst, and Anesthesia teams
• Orientation consists of 5 shifts at 8 hours each
• Potential to work every holiday
• Time off requests require manager approval
• Scrubs provided by the facility
• Free parking available
• First-time travelers considered
• Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
