Job summary

Newsandtribune is seeking a Surgical Tech/CVORT for a Level I trauma hospital CVOR unit. NBSTSA certification and open-heart experience are required, with at least 2 years CVOR exposure.

Day shifts are 4x10s (6:00 AM–4:30 PM) with alternating days off; some candidates may fit 5x8s or 3x12s. You may work weekends and 1–2 on-call days weekly, with on-site EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Qualifications

• NBSTSA certification is required (NCCT not accepted).
• Open heart surgery experience is required.
• Minimum of 2 years CVOR experience required.
• Level I trauma experience required.
• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC only).
• EPIC charting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Level I trauma hospital CVOR unit responsibilities.
• Day shift schedule (4x10 hours, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM), alternating days off.
• May consider 5x8hr or 3x12hr schedules for capable candidates.
• Work every 3rd or 4th weekend (Fri 4:30 PM to Mon 6:00 AM).
• 1–2 on-call days per week with 30-minute response time.
• Floating as needed; care of COVID-positive patients possible.
• Assist with cardiovascular procedures including CABG and valve repairs.
• Maintain aseptic technique and PPE protocols; specimen handling and radiation safety.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience required
• Open heart surgery experience required
• Level I trauma experience required
• NBSTSA certification required (NCCT not accepted)
• BLS certification required (AHA or ARC only)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience with cardiovascular procedures such as CABG, aortic aneurysm repair, TAVR, and VAD preferred
• Skilled in aseptic technique, sharps safety, and universal protocol time-out procedures
• License required if applicable

Responsibilities

• Level I trauma hospital CVOR unit
• Day shift schedule (4x10 hours, 6:00 AM-4:30 PM), with alternating days off
• Will also consider a 5x8hr or 3x12hr schedule for capable candidates
• Works every 3rd or 4th weekend (Friday 4:30 PM to Monday 6:00 AM)
• 1-2 on-call days per week with a 30-minute response time required
• Floating as needed
• May involve care of COVID-positive patients
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Assist with a range of cardiovascular surgical procedures including CABG, valve replacements, and endovascular repairs
• Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Participate in specimen handling, labeling, and radiation safety practices
• Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
• No guaranteed holidays off, with expectation to work 2 of 3 major holidays and no RTO between Christmas and New Year's
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
• Travel pairs accepted, though matched schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Candidates within 50 miles are considered local and may be offered a lower bill rate
• First-time travelers may be considered
