Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU assignment in Seattle. Requires active WA license, 2+ years telemetry and Epic proficiency. Travel nursing experience and IV skills are essential.

Responsibilities include caring for post-op and critical cardiac cases, LVAD/TAVR support, and patient monitoring with a 1:4 ratio. Night shifts, weekends, and travel allowances are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Care for Cardiac PCU patients including post-op, MI, arrhythmias, and heart failure.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for complex cardiac/vascular cases.
• Adhere to 1:4 patient-to-nurse ratio (1:5 at midnight) and 3x12-hour night shifts.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU position requiring 2+ years of telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at submission
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
• Surgical telemetry experience required, including open heart surgery and vascular (groin) radial band management
• IV skills required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• VAD and TAVR experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting within a hospital
• Patient population includes myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart and vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
• Specialized support for structural heart patients including LVAD and TAVR
• Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4, with up to 1:5 at midnight
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to like units within the facility and sister facilities
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Performs chest tube setup and care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, and sternal precautions
• Administers blood and blood products
• Performs cardioversion, defibrillation, and epicardial pacer management
• Provides care for LVAD and open-heart surgery patients 24-28 hours post-op
• Performs telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Provide comprehensive cardiac telemetry care including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Perform specialized procedures such as chest tube care, sternal precautions, and post open-heart surgery care
• Collaborate with a team supporting complex cardiac and vascular surgery patients
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Former permanent employees of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) may be eligible after a 3-month separation period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius to be eligible for the local candidate rate
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years
