Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit assignment at a major academic medical center in the United States. Licensure (NC or Compact) and at least one year of cardiology experience are required. Proficiency with Epic EMR and telemetry is essential.

The unit features a 28-bed census with 12-hour day shifts (0700–1900), 36 hours per week, and EOW weekend coverage. First-time travelers are welcome; housing and travel reimbursements provided.

Qualifications

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of cardiology experience required.
• Comfortable with cardiac rhythm interpretation and post-procedural cardiac care.
• Epic EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Care for Cardiac PCU in a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center with 885 licensed beds.
• 28-bed unit with an average census of 26.
• Cares for ACS, Heart Failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, Chest Pain r/o, post cardiac cath, post EP procedures.
• Arrhythmia management and vascular conditions like PAD, AAA repair, and DVT/PE.
• RN to patient ratio 1:4-5; CNA 1:11-14.
• 12hr Day Shift 0700-1900; 36 hours per week.
• EOW weekend rotation required; no on-call.
• Floating to Reynolds campuses and Day Hospital.
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, Omnicell, Philips monitors.
• Monitor/verify telemetry strips per shift.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit position requiring NC or compact licensure and at least one year of cardiology experience.

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of cardiology experience required
• Comfortable with cardiac rhythm interpretation and post-procedural cardiac care
• Required to titrate drips including Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerine, Sotalol, and Tirofiban
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Cardiac PCU in a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center with 885 licensed beds
• 28-bed unit with an average census of 26
• Cares for Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart Failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, Chest Pain r/o, post cardiac cath, post EP procedures, arrhythmia management, and vascular conditions like PAD, AAA repair, and DVT/PE
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5 and CNA ratio of 1:11-14
• 12hr Day Shift, 0700-1900, 36 hours per week
• EOW weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to 7 Reynolds, 5 Reynolds, Day Hospital, and 5CC West
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
• Responsible for monitoring and verifying telemetry strips once per shift
• Supported by CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Peripheral blood draws performed by phlebotomy; no dedicated IV/VAT team
• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Unit culture emphasizes teamwork and a family atmosphere
• Scrub color required: Royal Blue
• Free on-site parking available
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
• Returning travelers must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
