Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit with telemetry experience at a Level III Trauma Center in Washington. Requires WA or compact RN licensure, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, and 1.5+ years RN/PCU experience.

Telemetry, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and complex care skills are needed. Responsibilities include 40-bed PCU with continuous telemetry, 1:3-4 RN staffing, 12-hour night shifts, and floating to ICU/CCU/ED areas.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in PCU.
• Telemetry experience required with cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Experience with trach care, CIWA protocol, BiPAP, central line maintenance, and tube/drain management.
• Administer medications such as Cardizem, heparin, insulin (non-DKA), nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Dilaudid.
• Chest tube management; preference for Dopamine or nicardipine.
• Must complete and pass Traveler Telemetry Competency exam prior to start.

Responsibilities

• PCU setting with 40 private beds including negative air rooms.
• Telemetry monitoring for all patients.
• RN to patient ratio 1:3-4; about 13 RNs per shift.
• CNA support available at 1:10 ratio.
• 12-hour night shifts 1900-0730.
• Floating to ICU, CCU, Observation, ED Holding, and overflow areas; travelers float first.
• EPIC, Alaris, Pyxis, and Philips Mp50 monitors are used.
• Provide direct care to progressive care patients requiring continuous telemetry monitoring.
• Unit supported by a free-floating charge nurse, resource nurses for day and night shifts, 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage, and day-shift OT, PT, and ST.
• Additional support includes phlebotomy and IV/VAT teams.
• Orientation includes hospital NEO classes, EPIC training, safe patient handling, and glucose training, followed by a 12-hour unit orientation with a preceptor.
• COVID vaccination required.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.

• Patient population includes respiratory failure, sepsis, GIB, alcohol withdrawal, complicated surgeries, decompensating oncology, diabetic or renal complications, CHF, COPD, PNA, and comfort care
• Continuous telemetry monitoring for all patients
• RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4 with approximately 13 RNs staffed per shift
• CNA support available at 1:10 ratio
• 12-hour night shifts from 1900-0730
• Weekend scheduling varies based on unit needs
• Schedules provided three weeks at a time
• Floating required to ICU, CCU, Observation, ED Holding, and overflow areas, with travelers floated first
• Floating to MS units occurs at a 1:5 ratio when applicable
• Uses EPIC (preferred), Alaris, Pyxis, and Philips Mp50 wireless bedside monitors
• Provide direct care to progressive care patients requiring continuous telemetry monitoring
• Unit supported by a free-floating charge nurse, resource nurses for day and night shifts, 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage, and day-shift OT, PT, and ST
