Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nursing Float role in Washington. The position requires a WA or compact RN license and current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities include floating to 4th-6th floor PCU and MS/Tele units, with 1:4 patient ratios and EPIC EMR usage. 12-hour day shifts and a structured orientation with a preceptor are provided.

Responsibilities

• Float on PCU 32-bed unit across floors 4/5/6 as needed
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:4
• Administer high-acuity care including drips (nitroglycerin, heparin, etc.)
• Use EPIC EMR for documentation and orders
• 12-hour day shifts from 7a–7p and unit orientation with a preceptor
• Support on weekend shifts and holidays as needed
• Collaborate with in-house hospitalist, intensivist and ancillary teams

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nursing Float position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with a WA or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active WA or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BSN not required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS, pending certifications not accepted
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• CAPD (Peritoneal Dialysis) experience is a plus but not required
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Acute care PCU Nursing Float unit with 32 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:4
• Common diagnoses include CVA/TIA, STEMI/NSTEMI, ACS, CHF, acute and chronic renal failure, respiratory failure/distress, DKA/HHNK, PE/DVT, afib, and pre/post cardiac procedures
• Administers drips including nitroglycerin, heparin, cardizem, nicardipine, amiodarone, insulin, dopamine, esmolol, labetolol, milrinone, argatroban, and aggrostat
• No ventilator management required
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour day shifts from 7a-7p
• No block scheduling requests accepted
• Weekend requirements based on unit needs
• Floating required to 4th, 5th, or 6th floor PCU and MS/Tele units
• Dedicated charge nurse on every shift
• CNA support at a 1:8-12 ratio
• Tele monitors in use with remote tele monitor techs supporting strip reading
• 24/7 in-house hospitalist, intensivist, RT, pharmacy, IV team (1100-2300), RRT RN, and phlebotomy support
• Provide direct nursing care to a high-acuity, high-turnover PCU patient population
• Join a cohesive team environment that welcomes travelers as an integral part of the unit
• Unit-specific orientation includes 12 hours of policy/procedure training and 12 hours on-unit with a preceptor, plus EPIC training as needed
• Must be flexible to work holidays based on unit needs
• No specific scrub color requirement
• DUO contracts considered as long as schedules are not required to match
• First-time travelers may be considered
