American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift. Requires cardiac stepdown or ICU experience and a TN or compact RN license. BLS/ACLS are required; NIHSS may be obtained after offer. Cerner EMR and Omnicell experience preferred.

Position includes travel-friendly benefits, 3x12-hour nights, and a patient ratio of 1:4/5. Open to local Knoxville TN candidates or travelers with housing allowance.

Qualifications

• Active TN or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS may be obtained after offer.
• 2–3 years of prior cardiac stepdown/PCU/ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for PCU patients with cardiac telemetry including post-cath/MI and pre/post surgery.
• Maintain RN-to-patient ratios of 1:4/5 on night shifts.
• Utilize Cerner EMR and Omnicell for charting and med dispensing.
• Provide telemetry monitoring and emergency cardiac response as needed.
• Night shift: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM; every other weekend or two weekends per month.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring prior cardiac stepdown or ICU experience and a TN or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS may be obtained after offer
• 2-3 years of prior cardiac stepdown, PCU, or ICU/stepdown experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience preferred but not required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line care, and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Experience with interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Experience titrating cardiac drips preferred
• Experience with pulmonary artery lines preferred
• Must pass EKG test
• Certifications/licensure must not expire within 45 days of start date

Responsibilities

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a hospital setting
• Cardiac telemetry and stepdown patient population including post-cardiac cath, post-MI, and pre/post cardiac surgery patients
• RN to patient ratio of 1:4/5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend or two weekends per month required
• Floating required in accordance with facility policy and clinical experience
• Uses Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing system
• Provide telemetry monitoring, emergency cardiac response, and sheath removal care for cardiac and stepdown patients
• RTO requests cannot occur within 14 days of start date and cannot exceed 7 days
• No RTO accommodated during major holidays or surrounding holiday weeks
• Local candidates accepted within 75 miles of the facility at a reduced rate
• Candidates residing more than 75 miles from the facility qualify for standard travel rate
• Previous perm staff cannot return to the same campus within 24 months, but may return to a different Covenant Health campus after 12 months
• Related or married travel team members cannot be placed on the same unit
• Non-billable training modules completed during orientation and annually
