Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU position in a hospital setting. The role requires 2 years of experience and an active TN or compact RN license. BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required or AHA for BLS/ACLS, with several critical care competencies.

Responsibilities include managing cardiac telemetry patients, maintaining a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, and night shift coverage (18:30–07:00). First-time travelers are welcome and housing/licensure assistance may be provided.

Qualifications

• Active TN or compact RN license
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications (AHA for BLS/ACLS)
• Minimum 2 years RN experience
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access, blood product administration
• Ventilator care and ABG interpretation
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Wound care and isolation precautions
• Post-MI and cath care experience
• Hemodialysis care experience
• Relias EKG testing within 72 hours
• Drug screen 12–14 days prior to start
• Facial hair trimmed for fit testing

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU position requiring 2 years of experience and a TN or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA certification only accepted for BLS/ACLS)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with post-MI care, pre/post cardiac catheterization, sheath removal, and TR band management
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Must pass Relias EKG testing within 72 hours of signing
• Must complete drug screening 12-14 calendar days prior to start
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet fit testing guidelines

Responsibilities

• PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown unit in a hospital setting
• Cardiac telemetry and MS/Tele patient population including CVA and traumatic brain injury cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (18:30-07:00)
• 36/36, 36/48, and 48/48 schedule options available
• Every other weekend and rotating holidays required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Provide clinical nursing care within the PCU while supporting nursing student education and clinical training
• Orientation begins on Sundays and includes online computer-based learning modules
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Must reside 100 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)
• Hospital may cancel up to one shift biweekly without financial penalty due to census needs
