Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit in Shelby, NC. Requires NC or Compact RN licensure, 18+ months PCU RN experience, BLS/ACLS/NIHSS, and experience with tracheostomies, cardiac drips, rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, and central line care.

Epic EMR experience preferred; 19:00–07:00 shifts with 36 hours/week. Region 3 floating possible, with comprehensive unit support.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required
• Experience with tracheostomies, cardiac drips, rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference within past year from supervisor/manager/director/charge RN

Responsibilities

• Provide care on a 32-bed Progressive Care Unit (not requiring mechanical ventilation)
• RN-to-patient ratio typically 1:4 (potentially 1:5 by acuity)
• Telemetry monitoring at bedside and central station
• Support from CNAs, HUCs, and hospital teams
• Night shift schedule 19:00–07:00, 36 hours/week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Floating within Region 3 as needed within scope of practice
• Provide care in a family-oriented unit culture

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 18 months of PCU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required
• Experience with tracheostomies, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• Progressive Care Unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center hospital
• 32-bed unit caring for patients not requiring mechanical ventilation, including CHF, dysrhythmia, chest pain workup, stroke, abdominal illness/infection, respiratory illness, diabetes, AKI/CKD, ETOH withdrawal, and IVDA cases
• RN to patient ratio typically 1:4, potentially 1:5 depending on acuity
• CNA ratio of 1:12 days and 1:16 nights
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• Possible low census call-back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
• Bedside and central station telemetry monitoring
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• Provide direct patient care within a family-oriented unit culture
• Support available from CNAs for ADLs, daytime receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any missed contracted hours added to the end of the assignment
