Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Behavioral Health RN for a Level I Trauma Center in Connecticut. The role requires 2 years of acute psychiatric nursing experience and an active CT/compact RN license, with BLS and CPI certifications.

MOAB preferred. The candidate should demonstrate crisis intervention, de-escalation, and proficiency with chemical restraint protocols. The position is a day-shift traveler role, 3x12 hours, across campuses, using Epic for charting.

Qualifications

• Active CT or compact RN license required before start date.
• BLS and CPI certifications required.
• MOAB may be preferred.
• 2 years acute psychiatric nursing experience required (1.5 years with Level I trauma or travel experience).
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred.
• Experience with anxiety, bipolar, depressive, personality, psychotic, and substance use disorders.
• Crisis intervention, de-escalation, and managing assaultive behavior.
• Experience with emergent chemical restraints and physical hold protocols.
• 1 professional reference required.

Responsibilities

• Behavioral Health unit within a short term acute care Level I Trauma Center.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Floating required across 3 Psychiatric Emergency Services units between main and adjacent campus.
• Uses Epic for charting.
• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care including medication administration and crisis intervention.
• Care for patients in locked units and medical/psych treatment settings.
• Knowledge of voluntary and involuntary commitment procedures.
• Royal blue scrubs required.
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted.
• COVID vaccine and booster required with only religious or medical exemptions accepted.
• RTO requests of 7 days or less can be auto-approved.
• Local candidates not accepted if within 75 miles of the facility.
• Former staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler.
• First-time travelers accepted.
