Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Pediatric Critical Care Travel RN to join our Float Pool, with PICU, NICU, CVPICU coverage at a premier teaching hospital in Washington, DC.

Qualified candidates hold a DC RN license with BLS and PALS, have 2+ years of PICU or CVPICU experience, and are comfortable floating among NICU, PICU and CVPICU units. Cerner charting experience and travel nursing background are highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Active DC RN license required.
• BLS and PALS certifications required.
• 2+ years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required.
• NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations.
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred.
• Cerner charting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Float Pool covering PICU, CVPICU, and NICU in a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with Level I Trauma designation.
• Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, up to 1:3 when floating to NICU.
• Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:30) or night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30) options.
• Every other weekend required, with option for blocked weekend scheduling.
• Floating within NICU, PICU, and CVPICU; no on-call requirements.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring strong PICU experience and the ability to float between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU.

Requirements

• Active DC RN license required
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• 2+ years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required
• Some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
• Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, and administration of blood products
• Experience with emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations
• Cardiovascular skills including hemodynamic monitoring and dysrhythmia management preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required

Responsibilities

• Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with Level I Trauma designation
• Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool covering PICU, CVPICU, and NICU

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across PICU, CVPICU, and NICU settings
• Float assignments span all pediatric ages and acuity levels
• Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and logo-free
• One holiday guaranteed per contract, with a second holiday based on facility need
• Maximum RTO of 7 days; any full week taken must be made up by extending the contract
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
• Previous employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year to be eligible
